Japan international Hotaru Yamaguchi joins Hannover

Xinhua, December 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

Hannover reinforced their squad with the signing of midfielder Hotaru Yamaguchi, the Bundesliga team announced via the club's official homepage on Monday.

The 25-year-old Japanese, who joined from Cerezo Osaka, agreed on a long-term contract with the "Reds". The midfielder received the jersey number 15 and will join the teams training for the first time on January 4.

"We believe that Hotaru Yamaguchi can make the break through in the Bundesliga with his qualities. We observed Hotaru for a while and are pleased that we were able to sign him now. His Japanese teammate Hiroshi Kiyotake and Hiroki Sakai will certainly help his integration," Hannover's chairman Martin Bader said.

Hannover's new arrival is since 2013 part of Japan's national team. He scored one goal in 24 international duties ever since.

"I want to play as soon as possible and help the team. Of course, I am also looking forward to play together with Kiyo for Hannover," Yamaguchi said.

The "Reds" completed the first half of the Bundesliga campaign on the 17th place, a relegation spot. Hannover encounter newly promoted Darmstadt on January 23 to resume the season. Endit
