Ecuador says ties with China "at best ever" stage

Xinhua, December 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Ecuadorian Vice President Jorge Glas said Saturday that ties between Ecuador and China are at the best ever period.

Glas made the remarks in a weekly government report, days after returning from a trip to China.

Accompanied by Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino, Glas visited China between Dec.7-9 in search of investment and financing.

Upon concluding his visit, Glas announced that Chinese banks showed an interest in leading a consortium to finance the Pacific Refinery, a large petrochemical complex being built in the northern province of Manabi.

"We have complementary goals. Ecuador needs financing and technology from China to sustain its own development," said Glas. Endi
