Tokyo shares open slightly lower on overheat concerns

Tokyo issues opened the trading Friday slightly lower amid overheating concerns after recent surges, while the sentiment here was also hit by overnight losses in the U.S. stocks market.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average inched down 22.63 points, or 0.12 percent, from Thursday to 19,330.93.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 3.79 points, or 0.24 percent, to 1,560.92. Endit
