Barcelona leads Guangzhou 1-0 in FIFA Club World Cup semis

Xinhua, December 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

Thanks to Luis Suarez's easy finish, FC Barcelona led Guangzhou Evergrande 1-0 in the FIFA Club World Cup semifinals here on Thursday.

Suarez sent the loose ball home in the 39th minute after Guangzhou's keeper Li Shuai denied Ivan Rakitic's long drive.

The European champions could have led earlier in the 23rd minute, but Dani Alves' one on one was kept out by Li.

Guangzhou's left back Zou Zheng was injured in the 34th minute when he was out of balance and got his left leg seriously twisted.

Guangzhou missed their best chance to equalize in the 40th minute, as Claudio Bravo refused Elkeson's header. Endite
