The return leg games of the Spanish Kings Cup competition were on the whole positive for the clubs from Spain's BBVA Primera Liga on Wednesday night.
Athletic Club Bilbao had the most placid night, defeating Linense 6-0 on the night to qualify 8-0 on aggregate against the third tier side.
Athletic had six different goal-scorers, with five of the goals coming in the second half after Oscar de Marcos had opened the scoring early in the game.
Sevilla breezed through their second leg 2-0 to enjoy a 5-0 aggregate win at home to Logrones, while Valencia had few problems in qualifying against Barakaldo 5-1 on aggregate.
Gary Neville enjoyed his first win as coach, although it was always going to be a relatively straightforward night after a 3-1 first leg win and first half goals from Santi Mina and Alvaro Negredo.
There was much more drama in Getafe where the home side produced a fine first half display as they looked to fight back from a 2-0 first leg defeat to local rivals Rayo Vallecano.
First half goals from Pedro Leon, Vergini and Alvaro Vazquez looked to have given Getafe a shock qualification, but a second half strike from Lass was enough to send Rayo into the next round on away goals.
There was also drama in Eibar as the home side overcame a 3-0 away defeat to second division Ponferradina with a 4-0 home win.
Ponferradina were reduced to 10 men midway through the first half when Jesus Berrocal was sent off for elbowing, but didn't open the scoring until Borja Berjon's injury time opener.
Against 10 men the Basque outfit scored three more goals in the second half through Sergi Enrich, Simone Verdi and a late penalty from Mikel Arruabarrena.
Javi Lago's 73rd minute goal was enough to take second division Mirandes into the next round with a 1-0 win away to Malaga on the night to give them a 3-1 aggregate triumph against the Primera Liga strugglers.
Finally las Palmas made good their 2-1 first leg win against Real Sociedad as they claimed a 1-1 draw in La Real's Anoeta Stadium. William Jose put the visitors ahead on the night in the 37th minute and although Sergio Canales equalized on the night the home side were unable to force a goal to take the game into extra-time.
Tuesday night saw Deportivo la Coruna, Espanyol and Betis also book their place in the last 16. Endit
