France welcomes China's admission to EBRD

Xinhua, December 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

France welcomed China's admission to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), French Foreign Ministry's spokesman Romain Nadal said Tuesday.

"This admission, which is supported from the beginning by France, will strengthen the investment capacity of the EBRD and will promote projects of common interests between Europe and Asia," he added during a e-press conference.

EBRD announced Monday that its board of governors had approved a request by the Chinese authorities for China to become a shareholder of the Bank.

"China's membership of the EBRD will open up significant, further opportunities for sustainable investment by Chinese groups in the regions where the EBRD works," EBRD President Sir Suma Chakrabarti was quoted as saying in an EBRD statement. Endite
