At least 13 militants were killed in a clash with security forces in Pakistan's southwest Awaran district on Monday, local media reported.
Dunya TV said that the security forces launched a search operation on the intelligence tip-off of presence of suspected militants in Awaran area, a remote district located in the country's southwest Balochistan province.
During the operation, the forces raided a compound believed to be used as militants' hideout.
The militants inside the compound opened fire at the security personnel upon being cornered.
The exchange of firing between the militants and the forces resulted in the killing of 13 militants.
No causality on the security forces' side has been reported yet.
The security personnel also recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the custody of the killed militants.
Identities of the militants have not been revealed by the forces yet.
After clearing the compound, the forces continued the operation to other parts of the district.
A day earlier, two militants were killed during a shoot out with the security forces in the same Awaran district.
In the wake of the fresh spree of target killings in the Balochistan province, the security forces are carrying out crackdowns in various areas of the province against the militants and their facilitators.
On Monday night, security forces arrested two militants of a banned outfit, with sophisticated weapons in Barkhan area of the province.
About 25 suspected militants have been gunned down by the forces in Awaran district alone since the beginning of this month. Enditem
