New England Revolution midfielder Jermaine Jones will miss two US World Cup qualifiers in March after he was confirmed to face a six-game suspension from Major League Soccer(MLS) on Friday.
Jones was banned and fined an untold amount for pushing referee Mark Geiger in the Revolution's MLS Cup playoff loss to DC United on Oct.28.
The league commissioner Don Garber backed the punishment, although his suspension had been appealed by the MLS Players' Union.
"Jones will miss his first six MLS regular-season matches in 2016 and is ineligible to play in any soccer competition while serving the suspension," MLS said in a statement on Friday.
He will also miss national team duty when the United States play Guatemala twice in March in the 2018 World Cup qualifying. Endi
