CBA roundup: Aolong almost stuns defending champion in Beijing Derby

Aolong almost stunned Beijing as they lost to the defending champion 107-102 in the first Beijing Derby of the 2015-2016 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Friday.

   Zhang Qingpeng, who boosted in Beijing's victory against Guangdong in Wednesday's match, made in two free-throws with 17 seconds to the end of the match, and secured Beijing their second straight win. Zhang once again came from the bench and finished with 15 points and three assists.

   Randolph Morris led Beijing with a double-double of 37 points and 12 rebounds while Stephon Marbury contributed 21 and nine assists. Esteban Batista finished with a match-high 39 and 13 rebounds for Aolong. Mahdi Kamrani, who was five-of-five in three-pointer shooting in the first half, took 32 and dished out five assists. Beijing ended Aolong's three-game winning streak.

   Hu Xuefeng's 27 points failed to save Jiangsu as they lost to Guangdong 114-111. The 35-year-old veteran played for 37 minutes and was five-of-five in three-pointer shooting and 100 percent at the free-throw line. He also grabbed five rebounds and took four steals and seven assists. But Yi Jianlian's match-high 43 points lifted Guangdong over Jiangsu and avoided a losing streak.

   Marshon Brooks took 28 for Jiangsu while Greg Oden added 18 and 12 rebounds. Will Bynum and Ike Diougu combined for 43 for Guangdong.

   Zhou Qi's absence gave Tongxi chance to defeat Xinjiang 113-104. Von Wafer had a match-high 40 points while four more Tongxi players scored in double-digits. Xinjiang was outrebounded 26-36 and suffered their second loos of the season.

   In Friday's other matches, Bayi upset Fujian 77-73, Zhejiang trounced Shenzhen 123-106. Jilin defeated Shandong 108-100, Qingdao edged Liaoning 113-110. Shanxi beat Foshan 108-101. Sichuan tamed Shanghai 99-89 and Guangsha thrashed Tianjin 133-111.  Endi
