Fight against IS requires joint effort of allies: Slovak FM

Xinhua, December 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

Describing militants affiliated with the Islamic State (IS) as threat number one, Slovak foreign minister said Tuesday the fight against IS requires joint efforts of all allies.

The remarks by Miroslav Lajcak came following a meeting here with former U.S. special presidential envoy for the global coalition to counter IS John R. Allen.

Retired United States Marine Corps General Allen still serves as an advisor to President Barack Obama and State Secretary John Kerry for issues regarding the fight against IS.

"The will to defeat this extremist organisation is significant, but if we want to succeed, we need a trustworthy strategy and joint coordinated effort from all allies," added Lajcak, who concurred with Allen on the need for closer cooperation between security forces of individual states fighting against terrorism.
