Argentina's national soccer team's coach from the World Cup Brazil 2014, Alejandro Sabella, underwent an angioplasty procedure for a heart condition.

Argentina's former coach was hospitalized on Sunday evening in the city of La Plata, 60 kilometres (37 miles) south of Buenos Aires, with strong chest pains.

According to the medical report released on Monday, the 61-year-old Sabella "underwent a angioplasty procedure for hypertension (high blood pressure) and acute coronary syndrome," at the Hospital Espanol.

The health center also informed that after the procedure, the former coach is "stable" and should stay "under observation for the next 24 to 48 hours."

After the World Cup in Brazil, where Argentina came second after losing 0-1 in the final against Germany, the coach did not continue working despite receiving offers from clubs in various countries.  Endi
