Tunisia bans Libyan airplanes from entering capital airport

Xinhua, December 6, 2015 Adjust font size:

Tunisia on Saturday banned Libyan airplanes from entering Tunis-Carthage airport, the largest airport in Tunisia, Libya's civil aviation department confirmed to Xinhua.

All Libyan airplanes have to change their destinations from the main Tunis-Carthage airport to Sfax airport, according to the department. The decision is temporary and might end by the end of the year.

Tunisia's minister of transport said the decision is for security reasons, citing that masterminds of recent terror attacks are believed to have links with neighboring Libya.

Tunisia also decided to close the border with Libya for 15 days starting from Dec. 10, following a terrorist attack against a presidential security bus in the Tunisian capital killed 15 people on Nov. 25 . The Islamic State has claimed the attack on social media. Endit
