Czech Republic supports EU, NATO integration for Macedonia: official

Xinhua, December 4, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Czech Republic supports Macedonia in the process of joining the EU and NATO, the president of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament Jan Hamacek said Friday.

After meeting Macedonian Parliament Speaker Trajko Veljanovski, the officials said bilateral and parliamentary relations were strengthening, vowing to further improve economic ties.

Hamacek said the Czech Republic was trying to help Macedonia to cope with the refugee crisis, asking for a joint system to protect external borders and for the Schengen zone to be strengthened.

"We will cooperate in finding a joint European solution with the countries affected the most by the migrant flows. Thus, it is clear that such a solution must include Western Balkan countries, including Macedonia," Hamacek told Macedonian Parliament.

Hamacek also met Macedonian SDSM party opposition leader Zoran Zaev where they agreed on the importance to have free, fair and democratic elections in April 2016. Endit
