Senior official calls for direct criticism in education campaign

Xinhua, December 4, 2015 Adjust font size:

A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) urged continued improvement of official conduct with serious and straightforward criticisms.

Liu Yunshan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks in east China's Jiangxi Province at a meeting to promote the "three stricts and three earnests" campaign.

Serious cases of CPC officials violating the law and code of conduct should be used as "negative examples" in the education, with in-depth examinations to promote Party member faith and awareness of the Party rules, Liu said.

He called on Party members to carry out sharp criticism and self-criticism to solve problems with the Party, rather than doing perfunctory work.

The "three stricts and three earnests" refer to being "strict in morals, power and self-discipline" along with being "honest in decisions, business and behavior."

The education campaign should focus on solving real problems to ensure practical effects, he said.

He also called for strict cleaning up of any new forms of bureaucracy, extravagance, and undesirable work habits.

During his visit in Jiangxi, Liu inspected the local countryside, communities, enterprises and cultural institutions, calling for efforts to strengthen the building of Party organizations at grassroots levels.

He also urged development of the country's cultural sector, pledging more cultural investment for urban and rural grassroots units. Endi
