Lippi: Barca "not unbeatable"

Xinhua, December 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

World Cup-winning coach Marcello Lippi said Guangzhou Evergrande stand a chance to defeat FC Barcelona in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.

"Guangzhou are a strong team and have been improving," the former Evergrande coach told Chinese state television CCTV.

"They may lose most of the games against Barcelona, but still could win certain games."

Lippi coached Guangzhou to their first Asian Champions League title in 2013 before his student Fabio Cannavaro took over.

Brazilian Luiz Felipe Scolari, who succeeded Cannavaro, led Evergrande to a second Asian title in November.

Guangzhou, also winners of 2015 Chinese Super League, will play against Club de Futbol America in the quarterfinal of FIFA Club World Cup on Dec. 13.

Should Guangzhou win, they will take on European champions Barcelona in the semifinal. Endi
