Cruzeiro part with ex-Brazil forwards Baptista, Damiao

Xinhua, December 2, 2015 Adjust font size:

Former Brazil international forwards Julio Baptista and Leandro Damiao have left Cruzeiro as free agents, the Brazilian club announced on Tuesday.

Damiao scored just 18 goals from 48 matches in 2015, having sign with the Belo Horizonte outfit from Santos in January.

Former Real Madrid and Arsenal attacker Julio Baptista, who joined Cruzeiro in mid-2013, scored 17 goals from 62 matches this season.

The future of coach Mano Menezes, who replaced Vanderlei Luxemburgo in September, is still unclear.

Cruzeiro, winners of the past two Brazilian Serie A titles, are currently eighth in the 20-team league standings with one match remaining in the season. Endit
