The European Union (EU) clinched an agreement with Turkey on late Sunday, offering 3 billion euros(3.18 billion U.S. dollars) in aid and more promising access for Ankara's membership to the bloc, to trade for massive reduction of illegal migrant arrivals.
European Council President Donald Tusk made the announcement at a press conference after Sunday's summit, which was attended by leaders of the 28-country bloc and visiting Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.

HELSINKI -- About 1,000 people were evacuated after a fire interrupted a gymnastics competition in a sports center on Sunday in Vantaa, southern Finland.
When the fire started, competitions of the Finnish National Youth Gymnastics Championship, in which girls aged between 10 to 16 participated, were underway, local media reported. (Finland-Fire)

WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Barack Obama said Sunday he was "optimistic" about sealing a global climate agreement at the upcoming two-week UN conference in Paris.
"What makes this gathering different is that more than 180 nations have already submitted plans to reduce the harmful emissions that help cause climate change," Obama said in a Facebook post as he traveled to the talks.

JERUSALEM -- Israel suspended contacts with the EU on Sunday over issues regarding peace process with the Palestinians, following the bloc's decision to specifically label products produced in Jewish settlements.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is currently acting foreign minister, has ordered to "reassess the involvement of EU institutions in issues concerning with diplomatic process between Israel and the Palestinians," according to the Foreign Ministry. (Israel-EU-Ties)

ANKARA -- Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Sunday that the body of the Russian pilot was brought to Turkey, and would be handed over to Russia.
The body of the pilot, who was downed by two Turkish F-16s on Tuesday would be prepared in accordance with Orthodox tradition before being handed over to Russia, Davutoglu said in Ankara Esenboga Airport before his departure for the EU-Turkey Summit. (Turkey-Russia-Warplane) Endi
