Heavy smog in north China

Xinhua, November 29, 2015 Adjust font size:

Residents of Beijing and those in neighboring regions have been advised to stay indoors due to the poor air quality this weekend.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) said Sunday that 10 cities in the northern provinces of Hebei, Shandong and Shanxi reported severe air pollution while air quality in another 21 cities, including Beijing and Tianjin, reported "heavy pollution levels."

Due to the current weather pattern, the smog is expected to continue until Wednesday when wind is expected, according to Luo Yi, an official from the MEP.

Local governments will continue to monitor air quality and respond with relevant measures, such as factory closures or limits on road vehicles. Endi
