One person was killed and seven others sustained injuries as a roadside bomb struck a police van in eastern Khost province Friday night, provincial police chief Faizullah Ghairat said Saturday.

"A mine planted on a road by anti-government militants went off when a team of police was on routine patrol in provincial capital Khost Friday night, killing a civilian and wounding seven others including four police and three civilians," Ghairat told Xinhua.
