Icelandic website hacked by suspected IS supporters: report

An Icelandic website was hacked by suspected supporters of the Islamic State (IS) group, local media mbl.is reported Wednesday.

The website owned by the Union of Icelandic Christian Missions, remains down with black background and words reading "hacked by Islamic State."

The hacker also uploaded a video showing executions carried out by IS.

An Icelandic history museum's website suffered similar attacks in March, according to local media.

The domain extension ".is" probably appeals to IS for obvious reasons as a website linked to IS used an Icelandic domain name in October last year, said local media. Endit
