China's top legislator vows deepened strategic mutual trust with Argentina

China's top legislator Zhang Dejiang held talks with Argentine Vice President and head of the Senate Amado Boudou on Wednesday, vowing to continuously deepen political and strategic mutual trust with Argentina.

China will continue to view the relations with Argentina from a strategic standpoint, said Zhang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC).

The exchanges and cooperation between legislative organs is an important component of China-Argentina comprehensive strategic partnership, he said.

The NPC is willing to enhance exchanges and cooperation with Argentine congress to make positive contributions to bilateral relations, he added.

Zhang urged the two sides to launch a political dialogue mechanism between the two legislative bodies as soon as possible in order to push forward the institutionalization and normalization of their exchanges.

He called on legislative bodies between the two countries to create a stable, transparent and fair legal environment for China-Argentina cooperation, to guarantee the lawful rights of investors from the two countries.

He also urged the two countries to speed up the ratification process of inter-governmental cooperative agreements and push forward the implementation of major cooperative projects between the two sides.

Zhang suggested legislatures of the two countries enhance cooperation within multilateral parliamentary organizations and beef up coordination on issues concerning global governance and climate change.

The Argentine congress and the NPC are going to establish a political dialogue mechanism, which will greatly push forward the exchanges and cooperation between the two legislatures, said Boudou.

He reaffirmed Argentina's adherence to the one-China policy.

After their talks, Zhang and Boudou attended the signing ceremony of the agreement on establishing political dialogue relations between the NPC and the Argentine congress.

Boudou started his visit to China on Wednesday, which will last through Saturday. Endi
