Singapore stocks close 1.09 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 31.91 points, or 1.09 percent, to close at 2,891.58.

A total of 984.7 million shares changed hands with turnover of 1.05 billion Singapore dollars (748.7 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 249 to 166, while 519 others finished unchanged.

The STI index moved up 20.00 points, or 0.69 percent, to close at 2,923.49 on Tuesday. Endit
