EU's Tusk calls for "calmness" after downing of Russian jet

European Council President Donald Tusk here on Tuesday said on Twitter in this dangerous moment after downing of Russian jet, all should remain "cool headed and calm."

Media reports said that a Russian warplane was shot down on the Syrian side of the Turkish border earlier on Tuesday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian Su-24 warplane was attacked 1 km from the border with Turkey and crashed 4 km away, adding that the Russian pilots and the warplane "in no way threatened Turkey". Endit
