Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff called Argentine President-elect Mauricio Macri on Monday to congratulate him on his victory in the elections held on Sunday.
In a phone conversation which reportedly lasted about five minutes, Rousseff invited Macri to visit Brazil even before his inauguration, which will take place on Dec. 10.
Rousseff is expected to attend Macri's inauguration ceremony.
According to local media reports, Macri told Rousseff he hoped bilateral relations would grow more dynamic. He also called for more vitality in the relations within the Mercosur bloc, formed by Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Venezuela.
Brazil and Argentina have enjoyed strong relations, and Argentina is Brazil's largest trade partner in South America.
Macri's narrow victory put an end to over a decade of rule by the Kirchners in Argentina -- Nestor Kirchner led the country from 2003 to 2007 and was succeeded by his wife, Cristina Kirchner, who had two presidential terms from 2007 to 2015. Endi
