Slovenia to send more military men to Mali at French request

Xinhua, November 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

Slovenia has decided to enhance its role in the EU military training mission in Mali by sending more military men in the African country upon a request from France, local media reported on Sunday.

The details of the reinforcement is to add up its military men in Mali to ten. The decision came at the government correspondence session on Sunday, two days after Slovenia received an official request from France for assistance.

France asked EU member states for assistance on the basis of the mutual defence clause in the Lisbon Treaty following the Paris terror attacks on November 13, according to the report by Slovenian Press Agency (STA).

Slovenia joined the Mali military training mission in early 2013 and currently has three instructors there, the STA report said. Endit
