The terror threat level in the Belgian capital Brussels will be maintained at the highest level, Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel announced on Sunday.

Schools in the Brussels region will be closed on Monday, and subway and underground tram services will not operate until at least Monday afternoon when a further evaluation of the situation will be made, Michel said.

At a press conference on Sunday evening, Michel reiterated that the threat remained "serious and imminent". The alert level for the rest of Belgium remains at level three out of a scale of four. Enditem
