Chinese vice president meets Eurasian young leaders

Xinhua, November 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Chinese vice president Li Yuanchao met with a delegation of Eurasian young leaders in Beijing on Friday.

The delegation -- of nearly 50 representatives from 7 countries including Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan -- were attending a training and exchange program with the theme "Dream on the Great Silk Way".

When delivering a speech at the 14th meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of State in the Tajikistan capital of Dushanbe last year, President Xi Jinping said China will invite 50 youth leaders from SCO member states to study in China every year over the next five years.

Li said he hopes the young leaders will inherit the traditional friendship and deepen cooperation in innovation and entrepreneurship.

The "Belt and Road" initiative provides opportunities for young people, and they are willing to communicate more with Chinese youth, the delegation agreed.

Apart from Beijing, the delegation will also visit Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwest China in late November. Endi
