Colombian artist Botero travels to China to exhibit works

Xinhua, November 19, 2015 Adjust font size:

The life-time works of Fernando Botero Angulo, Colombia's most recognized painter and sculptor, will be exhibited in China for five months, El Espectador daily network reported Wednesday.

Botero, 83, will travel to China for the first time for the opening of the exhibition of his works, which include 10 sculptures, 96 large-size and 150 medium-size paintings, the report quoted his daughter Lina as saying.

His works will be exhibited at the National Museum of China in Beijing and China Art Museum in Shanghai. Exhibition in Beijing starts on Saturday and ends on Jan. 2, 2016, according to the website of the museum.

Botero will also attend a meeting organized by the Chinese Central Academy of Fine Arts along with other Chinese artists.

His visit is part of a series of cultural exchanges between Colombia and China to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic ties.

Botero found his passion in painting at the young age of 14. While his works include still life and landscape, Botero has concentrated on situational portraiture. His paintings and sculptures are united by their proportionally exaggerated figures. Endi
