Venezuelan Vice President Jorge Arreaza met with the visiting Editor-in-Chief of China's Xinhua News Agency He Ping in Caracas on Monday, and underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation between the two countries' main media outlets.

Venezuela highly values its comprehensive strategic partnership with China, said Arreaza, adding the development of cooperation between the two countries has had a positive impact on the lives of Venezuelans in several aspects.

"Our cooperation has been steadily strengthened with positive progress," said Arreaza.

"As a major international news agency, Xinhua is an important source of objective reporting on the truth in Venezuela," added Arreaza, calling for greater media cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, Editor-in-Chief He said as the comprehensive strategic partnership progresses, Xinhua will be covering the developments in Venezuela, guided by the principles of reporting the truth with objectivity and fairness.

Xinhua is willing to enhance cooperation with Venezuelan media to give more voice from developing countries and promote more balanced reporting on a global scale, He said.

China's Ambassador to Venezuela, Zhao Bentang, also attended the meeting.

He Ping visited Venezuela at the invitation of Venezuela's state news agency AVN, meeting with the agency's president, Freddy Fernandez.

He also met with Communication and Information Minister Desiree Santos Amaral on Saturday, with whom he exchanged views on improving media cooperation. Endit
