2015 World Robot Conference highlights man-machine interaction

Xinhua, November 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

The World Robot Conference 2015 will be held in Beijing from Nov. 23 to 25.

Visitors can have a close contact with the robots and experience their cooking, cleaning -- and even football -- skills, organizers said on Monday.

The event, organized by the China Association for Science and Technology and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), includes a forum, an exhibition and an international robot competition for teenagers. Representatives from 13 countries and 12 international robot organizations will be present.

According to MIIT official Wang Jianyu, China will strive to "make its industrial robots strong" and develop more robots for personal use in the next five years.

Most robots are designed for replacing humans working in especially hard conditions, and will not reduce job opportunities for man or threaten employment, according to Xu Xiaolan, vice president of Chinese Institute of Electronics.

A total of 57,000 robots were sold in China last year, a year-on-year increase of 55 percent and a quarter of global sales. Endi
