Border controls continue at France, Belgium boundary

Xinhua, November 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

The police at the France-Belgium boundary on late Friday night said border controls will continue till further notification.

Six policemen, each three from France and Belgium, were carrying out the border controls on Friday night at Bettignies, a Belgium town neighboring to France.

The Belgium policemen were checking out vehicles which headed to France while their French counterparts, of who two were gendarmes, took care at the opposite direction of those who drove away from France.

The heavily-armed policemen first stopped cars and then examined drivers and passengers.

A policeman who declined to give the name said they have checked several dozens of vehicles over the past two hours.

"So far we have not found any suspicious cars or passengers yet. The border controls will keep on till we get further notification," the policeman said.

The police arrived at Bettignies at around midnight shortly after France announced to adopt border controls after deadly attacks in Paris, which killed at least 140 people. Endit
