HK chief executive to attend APEC meeting in Philippines

Hong Kong Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying will visit the Philippines from Nov. 17 to 19 to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2015 Leaders' Week and other related meetings in Manila, Chief Executive's Office said on Friday.

On Nov. 17, Leung will participate in and address a discussion session entitled "What is the Next Horizon for Asia Pacific Trade?" of the APEC CEO Summit. He will attend another discussion session of the summit on the following day during which Chinese President Xi Jinping will deliver a keynote speech.

On Nov. 19, Leung will attend the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting. He will also meet with leaders of other member economies and APEC Business Advisory Council members at the APEC meetings.

The chief executive will depart for Manila on the evening of Nov. 16 and return to Hong Kong on the evening of Nov. 19. During his absence, Chief Secretary for Administration Carrie Lam will be the acting chief executive.

The theme of this year's APEC meeting is "Building Inclusive Economies, Building a Better World" with four priorities: enhancing the regional economic integration agenda, fostering small and medium enterprises' participation in regional and global markets, investing in human capital development and building sustainable and resilient communities.
