Vice President of the United States Joe Biden would attend a summit of Southeast European leaders, scheduled on Nov. 25, Office of Croatian President announced on Thursday.

As a guest, at the joint invitation of presidents of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic and Slovenia Borut Pahor, Biden would attend a meeting of the regional forum Brdo-Brijuni, which brings together leaders from former Yugoslav countries and Albania, it said.

Biden's visit would be the highest U.S. official to visit Croatia since Barack Obama took up office.

The Brdo-Brijuni Process was launched by Former Croatian president Ivo Josipovic and his Slovenian counterpart Borut Pahor in 2013, proposing annual meetings of the presidents of Southeast European countries, with a guest from a leading EU country in attendance, aiming at promoting regional cooperation and settling outstanding issues in the region.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel was the guest of the 2014 summit in Dubrovnik, a south coast city of Croatia. Enditem
