New Zealand seeking closer agriculture cooperation at China summit

Xinhua, November 12, 2015 Adjust font size:

New Zealand Primary Industries Minister Nathan Guy will be looking to build food and farming links with China at a major summit in Beijing this weekend.

Guy said on Thursday that he would attend and speak at the Food Security and Food Safety Strategy Summit sponsored by the Development Research Center (DRC) of the State Council, China's cabinet.

"The DRC is a government policy, research and consulting institution that focuses on China's economic and social development," Guy said in a statement.

"This conference is a good opportunity to build closer links with China and outline how our two countries can work together on issues of food and agricultural policy."

On Monday, he would visit Hong Kong to meet with the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

Race horses were one of New Zealand's most important exports to Hong Kong with exports worth 29 million NZ dollars (19.05 million U.S. dollars) in the most recent year, he said. Enditem
