5.4-magnitude earthquake hits off Taiwan coast

A 5.4-magnitude earthquake jolted the waters along the east coast of Taiwan Wednesday evening, the island's earthquake monitoring agency said.

The earthquake hit at 11:33 p.m. The epicenter was monitored at 24.43 degrees north latitude and 122.77 degrees east longitude, with a depth of 76.3 kilometers and about 107 km away from the Yilan county seat in northeast Taiwan, the agency said.
