Sporting manager Jorge Jesus did not reach an agreement Tuesday in a court hearing between his former club SL Benfica who brought charges against its former manager for 14 million Euros.
The court hearing was attempted at conciliation between Benfica and Jesus, in order to create conditions for them to reach an agreement and prevent the case to go to trial.
Jesus said at the entrance of the courthouse in Barreiro that it was "fairly quiet" regarding the lawsuit filed by Benfica, meaning neither party was able to find an accord.
Accompanied by his lawyer, Rogerio Alves, Jesus told reports he was "ready to defend my honor, dedication and loyalty," deferring to the successes had with Benfica.
Last month, Benfica charged the former manager in court for acts of treason after he left Benfica in June to manage Sporting Football Club.
Benfica claims that Jesus deserting the club while maintaining a contact with an employee of Sporting, which is his current club.
The club said Jesus must pay "by default, a calculation of a euro for every follower or sympathizer," and that "because of that the injury he caused for each fan should be much higher".
They also argue Jesus copied confidential software before leaving to manage Sporting.
Benfica claims to have the testimony of nine people. Of those nine are Ricardo Lemos press officer of the club, Bruno Mendes, director of Benfica Lab, Marco Pedroso, video analyst and businessman Gaitan Jose Iribarren.
The trial is scheduled for June 2016 should the two parties fail to reach an agreement.
Jesus coached Benifca from 2009 until June of 2015 before leaving to coach cross-town rival Sporting. Endit
