Sao Paulo sack coach Doriva

Xinhua, November 11, 2015 Adjust font size:

Former Porto and Brazil international midfielder Doriva has been sacked as coach of Brazilian giants Sao Paulo after less than five weeks in the job.

The 43-year-old confirmed the news in a statement late on Monday, a day after the team's 2-1 loss to Cruzeiro in Brazil's Serie A championship.

Doriva was appointed Sao Paulo coach on October 7, replacing Juan Carlos Osorio, who resigned to coach Mexico's national team.

He led the club to two wins, four defeats and a draw from his seven matches in charge.

The six-time Serie A champions are currently fifth in the league standings with four matches remaining in the season.

Milton Cruz, who led Sao Paulo between April and June this year, will manage the team until the end of the season. Endit
