French President Francois Hollande will fly to Malta on Wednesday to take part in an European-African summit on migration amid rampant flows of asylum seekers that continue to flood European borders, the president's office, the Elysee announced Tuesday.

Hollande will attend the two-day meeting starting from Nov. 11, which according to the European Council, would focus on the challenges and assets of migration and ways to deal with the increasing number of migrants, mainly Syrians who fled war and poverty.

On the sidelines of the summit, the French president was expected to head a meeting with African leaders to prepare for the upcoming international conference on climate change (COP21), the Elysee added.

Bilateral talks with Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and participation in the informal European Council of heads of state and government were also on the Socialist leader's agenda during his visit to Malta. Endit
