IS suicide attack kills Taliban commander in S. Afghanistan

A suicide bomber loyal to the so-called Islamic State or Daesh targeted Taliban militants in Khak-e-Afghan district of the southern Zabul province on Tuesday, killing a senior Taliban commander and injuring another, police chief of southern zone Abdul Razeq said.

"A militant loyal to Daesh strapped explosive device in his body and blew himself up among a Taliban fighters in Khak-e-Afghan district today morning killing Taliban senior commander Mullah Pir Agha on the spot and injuring Mullah Mati," Razeq told Xinhua.

Mullah Mati is the shadowy governor of Taliban in Zabul province, the official added.

This is the first time that Daesh group has organized suicide attack against rival Taliban group in Afghanistan.

Taliban militants have yet to make comment.

Daesh and Taliban militants have been fighting in parts of the southern Zabul and eastern Nangarhar province over the past couple of months. Enditem
