Colombia drops two places in FIFA ranking

Xinhua, November 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

Colombia dropped two places in the most recent FIFA (International Federation of Football Associations) world ranking, local press reported on Friday.

Colombia is now seventh in the FIFA world ranking, currently led by Belgium, who last year was below Colombia.

In October, Belgium surpassed Germany and Argentina, who are second and third respectively.

Meanwhile, from the Latin American teams Chile climbed to the fifth position after winning Copa America.

Brazil also dropped some positions and now is eight in the world ranking.

Colombia defeated Peru in the South American qualifying tournament towards Russia 2018, but was later defeated by Uruguay, making the Colombian squad to go down in the ranking.

Colombia, led by Nestor Pekerman, will play against Chile and Argentina on Nov. 12 and 17 respectively, in the third and fourth matchdays of the South American qualifying tournament towards Russia 2018.

Colombian fans think these are difficult games for their team, but fortunately, James Rodriguez, star of Spain's Real Madrid and the best Colombian player, will return to play with the national squad. Endi
