Belarusian PM to visit Pakistan from Nov. 9 to 11: Islamabad

Xinhua, November 6, 2015 Adjust font size:

Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov is scheduled to pay a three-day official visit to Pakistan from November 9 to 11 for talks on bilateral matters, focusing on economic cooperation, officials said Friday.

This will be the first ever visit by a Belarusian prime minister to Pakistan, the Foreign Ministry said.

During the visit, Kobyakov will hold official talks with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Several important agreements and memorandums of understanding are also expected to be signed. The president of Pakistan will host a banquet in honour of the visiting prime minister.

A large business delegation would precede the prime minister's entourage for participating in the Third Pakistan-Belarus Business and Investment Forum that will be held on Nov. 10.

"Pakistan and Belarus enjoy close and cordial relations. Prime Minister Kobyakov's visit will help in strengthening the existing ties between the two countries," a foreign ministry statement said.

There have been high level exchanges between the two countries in recent months.

The prime minister of Pakistan visited Belarus in August 2015.

Earlier, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko had paid a state visit to Pakistan in May that was the first ever visit by a Belarusian president to the country.

Officials say the current bilateral trade stands at 60 million U.S. dollars and that there is a great scope for increasing economic relations in fields of textile, agricultural equipment, heavy machinery, tyres, pharmaceutical, dairy products and transport. Enditem
