Israeli army soldiers shot dead on Wednesday afternoon a Palestinian young man near the southern West Bank city of Hebron, Palestinian officials said.

The Palestinian health ministry said in an emailed press statement that the Israeli soldiers opened fire at the Palestinian young man and killed him near the town of Halhoul, south of Hebron.

The statement said the identity of the young man is still unknown, adding that the body of the young man is still held by the Israeli army forces.

Meanwhile, an Israeli police spokeswoman said in a press statement that the Israeli soldiers opened fire on a Palestinian who ran over his car on an Israeli army force and wounded two soldiers, one of them in critical condition.

Since early October, the Israeli army and security forces have killed 75 Palestinians and wounded more than 2,000 others, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

In the meantime, 10 Israelis were killed and more than 20 wounded in a series of stabbing and shooting attacks carried out by Palestinians in the West Bank, Israel and east Jerusalem.
