Mexico, an experienced semifinalist at FIFA U-17 World Cup

Xinhua, November 4, 2015 Adjust font size:

Mexico played effectively and qualified to semifinals at Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup, for the third consecutive time, the tournament's official website reported.

Mexico defeated Ecuador with a 2-0 score in the match played on Monday at Francisco Sanchez Rumoroso Stadium in Coquimbo.

The Mexican squad had a sharp play since the beginning, especially with the shots made by Kevin Lara in the right field.

Despite of this, Ecuador highly pressured Mexico and took away the ball but they lacked deepness and the shot by John Pereira at minute 28 was stopped by Mexican goalkeeper Abraham Romero.

But then Mexico found the way to Ecuador's goal. At minute 41, Claudio Zamudio scored the first Mexican goal.

Ecuador continued seeking goal but without clear ideas. Mexico was more effective and then at minute 55 Bryan Salazar scored the second goal by penalty.

Mexico will face Nigeria on Thursday Nov. 5 in Concepcion. Endi
