Three men, who assaulted two Cambodian opposition lawmakers last week, handed themselves to the police on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Interior Ministry.
"The attackers, who caused injuries to two lawmakers Nhay Chamroeun and Kong Sakphea, surrendered to the Investigation Committee on Nov. 3 at 4:30 pm," ministry spokesman Gen. Khieu Sopheak said in a news statement.
The three suspects are identified as Chay Sarith, 33, Mao Hoeun, 34, and Soth Vanny, 45, he said, without disclosing the suspects' jobs.
"The Investigation Committee will send the perpetrators to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court for justice," he said.
The men handed themselves to police nine days after they dragged two opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) lawmakers from their cars and assaulted outside the parliament on Monday last week after a pro-government protest against a CNRP deputy leader Kem Sokha.
The two injured lawmakers are currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Bangkok.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on Wednesday last week condemned the attack and ordered the Ministry of Interior to launch a probe into the case in order to bring the perpetrators to justice. Enditem
