The Russian aircraft disintegrated in midair before it crashed over Egypt's Sinai Peninsula on Saturday, state-run Ahram newspaper reported Sunday.

Ahram said an official with Russia's Interstate Aviation Committee said in an interview with Russian RIA-Novosti news agency that the disintegration happened in the air and the fragments are strewn over a large area. (Egypt-Russia-Plane Crash)

BRUSSELS -- The European Commission here on Sunday announced that it will give 28 million euros in humanitarian aid to support Syrians displaced by the conflict in their host communities in Jordan.

According to a Commission press release, the funding allocation was announced by European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, Christos Stylianides, who is currently on a visit to Jordan and Lebanon. (EU-Jordan-Aid)

BUCHAREST -- The death toll of the nightclub fire late Friday in downtown Bucharest rose from 27 to 30 people on Sunday, and the government task force predicted that the number of dead could rise significantly in the coming period, and even double.

ANKARA -- Turkey's Justice and Development Party (AKP) regained on Sunday the majority in the Parliament it lost on the June 7 general elections, signaling voters' shift away from opposition parties amid fears of instability and surge in terror.
