Israeli soldiers kill one Palestinian in West Bank

Xinhua, October 31, 2015 Adjust font size:

A Palestinian was shot dead early on Saturday by Israeli soldiers in the northern West Bank city of Jenin, medical officials said.

Arrab Foquaha, the spokeswoman of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, told Xinhua that Israeli soldiers opened fire at a Palestinian young man at an army barrier near Jenin city.

"The medical team arrived at the scene with an ambulance and took the young man's body to Jenin governmental Hospital," said Foquaha.

Meanwhile, an Israeli police spokeswoman said in an emailed statement that the young man tried to stab an Israeli border police before he was shot.

Israeli forces killed 71 Palestinians and wounded more than 2,000 since early October in an ongoing wave of tension and violent confrontations.

Meanwhile, 11 Israelis were killed in a series of stabbing and shooting attacks in the West Bank, east Jerusalem and Israel.

The wave of tension in the area were sparked in mid of September following Israeli measures at al-Aqsa mosque compound in east Jerusalem, which were strongly rejected by the Palestinians. Endit
