The migration crisis cannot be addressed solely by police as cooperation with the armed forces is needed, announced Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico on Friday during a ceremonial review of a military unit that is departing for "Balaton 2015" exercise in Hungary.
"We responded in a similar manner to a request by Hungary concerning police, we are responding positively also when it comes to assistance in the military field," stressed Fico in his speech.
According to Chief of the Slovak General Staff, Milan Maxim, it will be an exercise featuring real-life conditions.
"The logistics unit is designated to the transport of material, people, drinking water and we also are capable of transporting not just our own equipment, but the equipment of other units that are training," added Maxim.
A total of 21 Slovak soldiers will participate in the exercise for the Visegrad Group countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia). Slovaks will assist with logistics, mainly with transportation of people and material. Endit
