Xinhua, October 29, 2015 Adjust font size:

Domestic advance voting, specially arranged for government officials, election candidates, local observers and media personnel who are to travel and engage in the upcoming election activities in Myanmar, started Thursday, 10 days ahead of the general election.

However, those living within the constituency areas are arranged to cast advance votes on Nov. 6 and 7 if applied, an official of the Union Election Commission told Xinhua.

A total of 6,065 candidates involving 91 political parties and 310 independent runners will compete in the 2015 general election, scheduled on Nov. 8.

The commission has designated 1,163 constituencies for the vote at three levels of the parliament across the country, namely the House of Representatives (Lower House), the House of Nationalities (Upper House), the Regional or State Parliament which also involves representatives from ethnic groups.

There are 32 million eligible voters in the country, according to the commission's revised figures. Enditem
