The Houston Rockets lost their season opener against the Denver Nuggets 105-85 at the Toyota Center on Wednesday night.
The Rockets was playing without Dwight Howard who was serving a one-game suspension.
The Rockets trailed the visitors in the first half 53-49. And they started the second half nearly as badly as they had done in the first half.
The Rockets fell further behind in the third quarter and continued the poor form in the fourth quarter.
James Harden scored 22 points with six rebounds and six assists for the Rockets, Terrence Jones and Ty Lawson had 15 points and 12 points respectively.
Houston coach Kevin McHale voiced his disappointment, saying that really there wasn't anything he could look at in there and say the Rockets did better than the Nuggets did.
"They shot it much better than we did. They moved it better than we did. They executed better than we did. They played harder than we did," he said.
Meanwhile, Denver coach Mike Malone was pleased with his team, saying that his team worked hard enough to come to Houston for a win, and this victory should not come as a surprise.
"Everybody outside of our organization can pick us last if they want, but we feel we have a chance to do something special this year and I think the way we played tonight showed that promise," the coach said.
Danilo Gallinari scored 23 points for the Nuggets while his teammates Kenneth Faried and Emmanuel Mudiay added 18 points and 17 points respectively. Endi
