UN envoy says "dialogue is only way out of this crisis" in Central African Republic

Following a series of attacks earlier this week in the Central African Republic (CAR), UN envoy said on Wednesday "dialogue is only way out of this crisis."
The UN Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) reported that a peacekeeper was injured Tuesday during an attack allegedly by an anti-Balaka group on a MINUSCA convoy travelling on the main supply route from the Cameroonian border to Bangui, said UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric at Wednesday's daily briefing.
"Another MINUSCA convoy was attacked again on the same route earlier today with no injuries reported," said Dujarric.
The Secretary General's Special Representative in the country, Parfait Onanga-Anyanga, called in a statement on all Central Africans to exercise restraint to avoid an increase of violence with serious consequences, said Dujarric.
"He also condemned the use of violence to resolve differences and said that recent events should not lead to more losses in human life and a step back for peace consolidation," said Dujarric.
"Violence will never be a solution; dialogue and reconciliation are the only way for the Central African Republic to overcome this crisis," Onanga-Anyanga said in the statement.
The envoy also noted that the attack coincided with the consensus-building dialogue currently in progress, which seeks to establish an electoral calendar between the Head of State of the Transition, the national authorities, and the international community, according to the statement.
The CAR has recently witnessed an upsurge in violence and instability. The UN Security Council has repeatedly called for free and fair constitutional referendum and presidential and legislative elections by the end of 2015. Enditem
